Hello, my name is Merilynne. I’m 56 and I’m living life to the fullest, trying to enjoy every day and every new experience. One of the things that scares me the most is the thought of dying. I’m not ready to die. But I don’t get to choose when I die. I want to be prepared as much as I can be, and for me, that means talking about it once in a while. In this way, it becomes something I think I can live with a little bit more. Talking about it takes some of the fear away.

Some people think it’s weird to talk about death, like its depressing or morbid. I have found that if I let myself share a little bit about my thoughts, it is actually uplifting. I feel more alive. In fact, people who come to death discussion groups say just the opposite - they feel uplifted, connected and encouraged.

Hey, talking about sex won’t make you pregnant. Talking about death won’t make you dead. Give Death, Dying and Dessert a try.
